Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has urged the Governor of Rayong province, the Governor of the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand, and local entrepreneurs to work together in formulating a green environmental plan for the Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate area in Rayong province.
The call was made during the Prime Minister’s inspection tour of Map Ta Phut before the mobile Cabinet meeting on 18-19 June 2012 in Chon Buri.
She explained that the green environmental plan seeks to bring about environment-friendly conditions in the local community through various ways, such as the planting of more trees.
The Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Interior to look into the town plan of Rayong by developing green-belt areas into more public parks for recreational purposes.
She instructed the Department of Industrial Works to tighten controls on the issuance of licenses for industrial operators to ensure that the operations of local industries are up to international standards.
During the inspection tour, the Prime Minister received complaints from several groups of local residents, who were suffering from various problems. She asked responsible ministers and the Governor of Rayong to look into the complaints and report their assistance periodically in order to ease the problems.
